Martin Leginus
Biogram
Martin Leginus was born in Snina. He studied orchestra conducting at the State Conservatoire under the guidance of Zdeněk Bílek – last student of czech legendary conductor Václav Talich. He continued his studies at the Academy of Music and Performing arts in Bratislava under the guidance of Ondrej Lenárd.
Since 2006 Martin began to conduct several productions in the Slovak National Theatre. He became a member of the Slovak National Theatre in 2008. Since 2013 till 2016 Martin led State Opera Prague in position of Music Director. During season 2015/2016 he was principal guest conductor in Prague Chamber Orchestra. He has conducted at famous concert stages as Konzerthaus in Vienna, Konzerthaus in Berlin and Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo. Martin conducted 20 performances of Verdi’s La traviata in Japan during successful Japan tour with the company of State opera Prague in october 2015. Since 2018 he has collaborated with Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina as principal guest conductor. Martin has conducted following opera titles: Orpheus and Eurydice, Martin and the Sun (Tibor Frešo), Carmen, The Magic flute, The Barber of Seville, The two Foscari, Macbeth, La traviata, Aida, Nabucco, Otello, Simon Boccanegra, Rigoletto, Falstaff, Don Carlo, Hansel and Gretel, Cavalleria Rusticana, I Pagliacci, Madama Butterfly, La bohème, La rondine, Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Il Tabarro, Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica, The Bartered Bride, Rusalka, Kate and Devil and ballets The Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Ivan the Terrible, Giselle, La Sylphide and Spartacus.
Martin has collaborated with many legendary soloists as Leo Nucci, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Simon Keenlyside, José Cura, Anna Samuil, Desirée Rancatore, Jana Kurucová, Pavol Breslik, Adriana Kučerová, Sergej Lartin, Dalibor Jenis, Eva Hornyaková, Peter Mikuláš, Eva Urbanová, Štefan Kocán etc.
