Born in Naples, Giuseppe Di Iorio trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He has designed lighting for prestigious opera, theatre and musicals productions internationally. His previous work for the Poznań Opera House: Paria (2019), Rusalka (2022) and Harbina (2025).
His recent designs include Simon Boccanegra at La Fenice, Venice, Antigone, Oedipus at Colonus and Oedipus Rex at Greek Theatre of Syracuse, Jedermann for Salzburg Festival, Grand hotel de L’opera at La Pergola, Florence, VIlla belcanto at Teatro Regio Di Parma for Masquerade Opera Foundation, Nabucco Teatro Pavarotti, Modena, Cabaret and Fórum for Theatre du Lido, Paris, Faust at Teatro Massimo Palermo, Tales of Hoffmann, Lituanian Opera, Vilnius, Lucia di Lammermoor Donizetti Festival, La Forza del Destino at Greek National Opera, Athens, Madama Butterfly, Flying Dutchman, Anna Bolena, Tristan und Isolde at Saõ Carlos, Lisbon, Falstaff, Festival Verdi, Parma, Nabucco, Idomeneo e Nozza di Figaro for GöteborgsOperan, Edgar at Opéra de Nice and two Ring Cycles in Palermo and Lisbon.
He has collaborated with major institutions such as La Scala, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro dell'opera di Roma, Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Chicago Opera, Glyndeborne, ROH and Bolshoi in Moscow.
His projects for Birmingham Opera include promenade stagings of many operas amongst which Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Otello, Kovancina and The Ice Break.
