Cinderella

Cinderella

summary

The ballet Cinderella is based on  Perrault's fairy tale and therefore, together with Prokofiev's music, it smuggles in qualities which we should still remember about: modesty, goodness and gentleness, together with believing in the power of a dream. It has everything that will make a little ballerina's heart jump for joy – a beautiful prince, sophisticated dresses, fairies and magic. The performance's authors – choreographer Paul Chalmer and stage designer Anna Kontek wink at us from above the frills and tulle, bringing in just the right dose of humour through Cinderella's two sisters – Gruszka and Pietruszka or the funny scene in which they try on the shoe. It is, nevertheless, worth remembering that Cinderella is a legitimate ballet performance, in which connoisseurs will find variations and pas de deux of the highest quality.

A great recommendation for little ballerinas, tough it will also entertain the bigger ones
