The paths of Paul Esswood and the Poznań Opera ensemble have crossed for the third time already. A few years ago, this renowned countertenor switched his place on the stage for the conductor's stand. He did not, however, abandon the repertoire he used to specialise in throughout his soloist career. You know it: Baroque forever! As we remember, the audience's enthusiasm after last year's presentation of Giulio Cesare in Egitto resembled that of rock concerts... or maybe Ba-rock ones?
In the 2019/2020 season, Paul Esswood will prepare Jephtha. While savouring the vocal craft of excellent artists invited to perform Handel's piece, let us also give some attention to the Poznań Opera orchestra. The precision and intuition with which they bring out the nuances of the Baroque score is simply incredible, and to think that the ensemble is used to performing a different type of music on a daily basis.
A great recommendation for anyone who likes to tune in with the sound of Baroque; as, without any doubt, Baroque is always a good choice.
