He has been working with the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera since 1990, designing lighting for operas and ballets. Major productions include The Rite ofSpringchoreographed byK. Zaleski, La bohèmedirected byM. Treliński, Szymanowski’sHarnasiechoreographed by E. Wesołowski, W krainie czarodziejskiego fletu directed byB. Redo-Dobber, Szymanowski’s Mandragoraproduced by M. Znaniecki, In Search ofColours choreographed by J. Tyski, Persona choreographed by R. Bondara, andAdagio & Scherzo choreographed by K. Pastor.

Maciej Igielski has also worked as guest collaborator for Opera Nova (Bydgoszcz), designing lighting for the balletsThe Captive Mindchoreographed by R. Bondara andA Midsummer Night’s Dream choreographed by K. Urbański, aswell asthe operas Dvořak’sRusalkadirected by K. Wuss and Moniuszko’sHalka directed by N. Babińska. For the Kielce Dance Theatre, he developedZdarzyło się wJeruzalem choreographed by E. Szlufik-Pańtak and G. Pańtak. In2013 heguested atthe Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre inVilnius, where hedevised lighting forČiurlionis choreographed by R. Bondara. Healso accepts invitations from Warsaw’s theatres, and has worked onKocham O’Keeffe(Alfred Stieglitz Loves O’Keeffe) directed by K. Kolberger (Bajka Theatre), Matematyka miłości (Mathematik der Liebe)directed by A. Albrecht (Buffo Theatre) and Łysa śpiewaczka(The Bald Soprano) directed by M. Prus (National Theatre).

Other projects include: Zbigniew Preisner’s concert10 łatwych utworów nafortepian (1999), the jubilee concert Gniezno 2000, Polish pavilionat EXPO 2000 inHannover, Dance Galaat the 10th Dance Festival inKielce (2010), the exhibitionWarszawa wbudowie (WWB4) atthe Museum ofModern Art inWarsaw (2012), and alarge-scale staging ofFaust by B. Redo-Dobber (Centennial Arena, Wrocław).
